As a global company, Marian has continued to experience steady growth. As stated in this article, Marian to Remain a Privately Owned Company, it is part of Marian’s long-term strategy to reinvest in our businesses as we grow. Expanding in terms of space and technology allows Marian to continue to provide our customers with the highest-quality parts, on time, and with excellent service. Our facility in Milwaukee, WI is no exception!
Starting Out: The Kuehn Rubber Company
Let’s start with a bit of Marian Milwaukee company history. In 1922, Norman L. Kuehn launched the Kuehn Rubber Company in a small building on North 4th Street in Milwaukee, WI. Since its start, the company has never stood still. Beginning as a distributor of mechanical molded rubber goods for the emerging appliance and electrical industries, the company has continuously added products and capabilities to serve its customers. Thus, the need for more manufacturing space has kept them moving to larger facilities in the Milwaukee area.
Kuehn Rubber joined with Marian Inc. in 1994 to become Marian Milwaukee. With that merger, the company has prospered with the in-house fabrication of rubber, plastics, pressure-sensitive adhesives, and much more. In 2013, Marian Milwaukee president, Dan Hurrle, moved the business to a modern 34,000 SF building in Menomonee Falls, WI. Within five years, the company purchased the neighboring 18,000 SF building and property.
100 years and Ground Breaking for a Building Expansion
2022 marks the company’s 100-year anniversary! Marian Milwaukee is celebrating by breaking ground on the construction of a 17,000 SF building expansion that will connect the two existing buildings. This addition will tie their two buildings together, improving workflow, and providing much-needed room to grow manufacturing capacity and warehouse space.
The President of Marian Milwaukee, Dan Hurrle, is excited about this next phase. “We have certainly come a long way from our humble beginnings. We have gotten here with a lot of hard work, outstanding employees, and loyal customers. We are excited for the future as we grow into this new beautiful addition here at our Menomonee Falls Campus.”
The building addition will be constructed utilizing split face load bearing concrete masonry unit walls and conventional steel, joist, and decking which will provide a seamless transition from new to both existing buildings. Moore Construction Services is the construction manager for the project. They have hit the ground running and are expected to complete the addition in early 2023. With this addition, Marian Milwaukee will increase its total operations space to around 70,000 SF.
According to Marian, Inc. President, William Witchger, “We are excited to expand our Milwaukee location to support their growing business. This space will allow us to add new state-of-the-art processes and hire additional people to support our customers with advanced capabilities.”
We are eager to share more as this project progresses. If you are in the Milwaukee area, please come see us!
